Isooctanoic acid is a colorless liquid with a slight odor. It is flammable, slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, and slightly soluble in ethanol. It can be used as an intermediate in paints,alkyd resinmodifier, for the production ofperoxidesas catalysts forpolymerization reactions(e.g., PE), and for lubricant esters and PVC stabilizers, among others.
